Casco Bay Islands
This is a watercolor looking across Casco Bay to Falmouth and Yarmouth. I was seeking to capture the bright, late afternoon sunshine in the foreground against the quiet waters of Casco Bay. I wanted to paint a deep sense of space with the islands in the distance. I also pursued a sense of movement with the clouds sailing by. This miniature painting captures a sense of peace and tranquility.
Homer's watercolors of the Bahamas inspire me. I am also influenced by Sargent's many different watercolor subject matters.
