Martin's Point
I am attracted to the beauty amongst the broken. This is a pastel painting on sanded paper. It was painted directly on location. The beauty is the magnificent Maine light. It penetrates onto the rocks in the middle of the picture. The broken is driftwood in the foreground. The driftwood and the rocks are subject to the constant ebb and flow of the tides. Despite the constant change of the seasons and the rigorous flow of the tides, the rocks and driftwood remain sturdy.
